Development of the Digital Infrastructure Model of the Old Church Slavonic Institute (DigiSTIN)
As part of the project Development of the Digital Infrastructure Model of the Old Church Slavonic Institute – DigiSTIN, models for the development of the Institute’s digital infrastructure will be designed and implemented. The primary goal is to develop the institutional domain stin.hr, aiming for it to become one of the central hubs for information and learning about the Croatian Glagolitic script and heritage in general.
The project has several sub-goals and is based on the synergistic collaboration of members from all departments of the Institute. The presentation of project results will adhere to the principles of transmediality.
As part of the project, models for the digitization and retro-digitization of the Dictionary of the Croatian Redaction of Church Slavonic will be researched and developed. An e-grammar will be published, and internal institutional and publicly accessible databases will be developed. Educational games, virtual exhibitions, and a portal with educational materials will also be created. This will serve as the foundation for collaboration with the educational system, popularization activities, and the content base for an interpretive center for Croatian Glagolitic heritage, which is to be established within the Old Church Slavonic Institute.
Additionally, a reverse dictionary of the Croatian Church Slavonic language will be created. The project will focus on digitizing manuscripts as well as specialized literature to facilitate scientific research. Scanned texts will be processed using HTR (Handwritten Text Recognition) and OCR (Optical Character Recognition) programs.
A database of Glagolitic chanting will also be developed. The Institute’s presence on social networks, such as Facebook and YouTube, will be enhanced.
A significant part of the project will focus on creating digital content related to a potential Croatian segment of the Cyril and Methodius Cultural Route (part of The Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe program since 2021), which aims at promoting and familiarizing the general public with the diversity of European cultural heritage.
