The Old Church Slavonic Institute is the central Croatian academic institution for the research of Croatian Glagolitic script and Glagolitism.

The Glagolitic script is the first script used by Croats to record their mother tongue as early as the 10th/11th century. It is the oldest Slavic script created by Constantine the Philosopher – St. Cyril. The Croatian form of the Glagolitic script is known as angular Glagolitic.
